Converse x Oscar Niemeyer

The Brazilian architect Oscar Niemeyer has created a collection of sneakers and slip-ons for American shoe company Converse.

There are five designs inspired by his great work and developed in collaboration with Oscar Niemeyer Foundation.

According to Vogue Brasil: “Each All Star won a special design, with curved lines in red on canvas, suede or leather, in off-white and raw shades.” The magazine highlights the special model of the Chuck Taylor All Star HI (High tops), has the quote ‘It’s not the right angle that attracts me, nor the straight line, hard and inflexible, created by man‘ printed on it, handwritten by himself, and a red colored tongue, in reference to the entrance of the Ibirapuera’s Auditorium in Sao Paulo; and model Chuck Taylor All Star Chukka Boot, which alludes to the monument “Torture never again”, designed by the architect in 1986, and carries on the liner a illustration made for the Landless Movement.
